Spirit Vs. Science
This project was inspired by a concept in which science and spirituality can be integrated and connected to one another, rather than contradictory.
I based my research on my mother’s spiritual journey, who years ago completed a PhD in Biomedical engineering, and is currently working on her second PhD thesis on the subject of Kabbalah and Judaism.
The various prints, laser cuts and the pattern of the garment were inspired by X-Ray Crystallography, a scientific photography technique in which the x-rays penetrate through the crystal and reveal its inner molecular structure.
Spiritually, crystals are believed to posses diffirenthealing forces and are used in spiritual rituals.
Scientifically, X-Ray Crystallography and the study of crystals eventually led to the discovery of the double helix structure of our DNA.
